One Life
04:34
|
|||
You feel that pressure in your chest
You wonder how much time you have left
You feel a lump in your throat
Where did all the days go?
A quarter to the life you bought
Halfway through the drink you got
Ready Player One
Game Over, it’s done
Everything moved faster than you thought
But you’re alive tonight
And we’re alive tonight
You’ve got one life, play it well
It sucks getting old or so I’m told
But baby, don’t believe all you hear
Get your ass off the couch
Get out of the house
You’re still young enough, my dear
Remember the summer when you were sixteen?
So beautiful and carefree
The feelings when you first heard that song?
Nostalgia’s a hell of a drug
You’re alive tonight
We’re alive tonight
You’ve got one life, play it well
Remember who you were
Don’t forget who you are
Remember hanging out with friends
Don’t forget to see them again
Remember to dance
Put on your favorite pants
Take this chance
It may be the last you have
You’re alive tonight
We’re alive tonight
You’ve got one life, play it well

Valerie N
04:01
|
|||
When my parents sold me out
For a luxury car
When my friends threw me down
For a bigger, hotter star
You were there, waiting in the night
Golden hair, your mouth pressed to mine…
Valerie, Valerie N
Valerie, Valerie N
Summer was our paradise, but summer always ends
Valerie, Valerie N
So foolish and young
The new kid at school
You were the only one
Who got through
You and I, kissing in my room
Sneaking home by the light of the moon…
Valerie, Valerie N
Valerie, Valerie N
Do you remember me? Do you know what you meant?
Valerie, Valerie N
Valerie, Valerie N
Valerie, Valerie N
I wish I could go back and do it all again
Valerie, Valerie N
Valerie, Valerie N
Valerie, Valerie N
Summer was our paradise, but summer always ends
Valerie, Valerie N

Automatic
04:25
|
|||
You’re looking good, I knew you would
tonight it’s like any other
time you take from me, you give to me
My beautiful lover
I can’t help the way it feels
The touch, the sting
The hunger never stops anyway
So I do what you say
You’re at large and you’re in charge,
alright, it’s time for another
taste of what you got
It’s what I want over and over
I can’t keep you by my side
You won’t stay the night
So close, so far, don’t stop
It’s clear who’s on top
It’s automatic
It’s automatic with you
It’s automatic, it’s true
I like to think I’m in control but I know
I love to feel too much to let go
I tell myself I won’t pick up when you call
I tell myself it’s alright when it’s no good at all
It’s automatic
It’s automatic with you
It’s automatic, it’s true

To The Max
05:25
|
|||
We were raised in a school by the C.I.A.
Made out, had house parties while the parents were away
We learned to play together in those basement shows
We dreamed we'd change the world with the songs we wrote
In the malls we blew the wages of youth (like they told us to)
We looked as good as we felt
We were so in tune
Suburban scenes and forest drives
Not all of us would arrive alive
We took it to the max
In the script of the bridge
With a perfect kiss
We took it to the max
In spooky rooms
Under killing moons
We took it to the max
Standing on a beach
With our New Gold Dreams
We took it to the max
Oh boy, I heard the news today
I'd take it to the max
But you've gone away
Empty and dark, the malls stand silent
The basements all flooded
Old dreams have rusted
It's so hard to believe it's true
I want to sing our songs
but I can't remember the tunes
Endless crying skies
and wondering whys
You never were much for goodbyes
You took it to the max
The birth of truth
Forever sonic youth
You took it to the max
The hungry wolves
and banshee screams
You took it to the max
Clinging to the sun
You were the only one
You took it to the max

Summer's Promise
05:19
|
|||
It was June and July, it was her and me, it was meant to be
When the heat of the day became the heat of the night we held each other tight
And we danced…all summer long
And we sang…all summer long
Vacations end and it was time to go, returning home on my own
All that year I carried the mark of summer’s promise on my heart
I would wait…for summer to come
Counting days…until they all were gone
But summer’s promise never meant to last
She gave her heart and then she took it back
People change and the world spins so fast
Summer’s promise never meant to last
The next June arrived and so did I, with a flower and a smile for her
But the look on her face told me everything had changed
We didn’t talk about it, but there was no doubt
And to this day I have a scar where her promise broke and cut my heart
And I cried…all summer long
Summer’s promise never meant to last
She gave her heart and then she took it back
Feelings change and shatter like glass
Summer’s promise never meant to last
But summer’s promise never meant to last
She gave her heart and then she took it back
People change and the world spins so fast
Summer’s promise never meant to last

Drives
04:30
|
|||
For some it’s faith in God above that keeps them to the right
Then there’s those where fire below keeps them up at night
Some want to be told what to do
Some need to do the telling-to
They're puppets dancing on a string
Pulled by mysterious things
Drives them crazy, drives them out of their minds
It ties them up and they can’t get free from it
Drives them crazy, drives them out of their minds
It locks them up and it takes control of them
For some, the feel of drink or pills
For some, it’s goods and cash
Then there are those darker thrills:
The leather and the lash
Some of us still don’t know why
We get up, work, live, and die
Like an itch that can’t be scratched
It goes away but it always comes back
Drives you crazy, drives you out of your mind
It straps you up and it takes you for a ride
Drives you crazy, drives you out of your mind
It ties you up and you can’t get free from it

Older Woman
03:37
|
|||
Never liked the little ones on the quiet tip
Now I got someone knows how to give me some lip
It's just a number but she's more than a friend
She's so very...experienced
Some people, well, you know, they say the kids are alright
Some people want to feel young tonight
Some people, well, you know, they like to stay in school
Not me, I'm graduated, I'm nobody's fool
Because I've got an older woman
You know I've got an older woman
I said I've got an older woman
and you know what that means...
All the boys see she knows how to dress
And the other things she knows, you'll have to guess
She's got her own money, she drives her own car
And when she takes you for a ride, she'll say how far
Some people want somebody to act shy and say please
I need a woman who knows what she needs
Some people think I'm crazy, hey man, that's just fine
There's less competition for mine
Because I've got an older woman
You know I've got an older woman
I said I've got an older woman
and you know what that means...

Party of One
03:39
|
|||
Ain't looking for drama
Got plenty right here
Ain't looking for serious
Don't let it get weird
When I'm at home
Push a button on my phone
Make you come and go
Now I want to be alone
Maybe I'll date
Someone 28
Everything is alright
But you can't join my...
Party of One
When the feelings are gone
I'll make a song
And once it's a song
The feelings are gone
Get down by myself
Pick up my cell
They come when I call
When it's done, it's all...
Party of One

Someone Close
04:06
|
|||
You come to me when I sleep
I feel your lips brush my cheek
But when I open my eyes
No one’s there
Just air
Even though I’ve never seen your face
I know how you feel and how your kisses taste
Should we pass on the street
Would you recognize me?
Someone close
To share my dreams and hopes
What I want most
Is someone close
Someone close
To have and to hold
When I get home
I want someone close
Maybe I should take a vacation
On a jet plane like a secret agent
Got the ticket in my hand
But I don’t know where to land
The world is so dark and mean some nights
I need somebody to hold me tight
And if I have a drink or two
Someone close enough might do
Someone close
When I’m alone
I need a dose
Of someone close
Someone close
Who’ll take me home
When it’s cold
I want someone close

Love Makes You Real
04:35
|
|||
I was made a hollow man
Head all stuffed with fluff
I thought that was enough
Gears and machinery
and fear inside of me
I thought that's all there was to be
Never felt a thing
Never had to sing
Never laughed or cried
Never wondered why
I wonder where you are now
You showed me, you showed me how
To laugh, to cry, to feel alive
You showed me love makes you real
Have you ever felt like you forgot something important
But you can't remember what?
Have you ever had a broken heart?
The kind where it cuts so deep, you don't want it to stop?
Sometimes it hurts
It feels like you might burst
Once you're real, you can't go back
Once you're real, it lasts
I want you, I need you now
You showed me, you showed me how
To laugh, to cry, to feel alive
Love makes you real

Finale
05:05
|
|||
My world has been the stage
Upon which I've played
I’ve one thing left to say
I can't take another day
The empty little clubs
The shrieking of the jets
All the notes I flubbed
Is the van ride over yet?
The smell of spilled stale beer
The ringing screaming in my ears
The broken gear I've had for years
Does the owner know we're here?
To all the fans out there
To the listeners on the air
To the bots on the Internet
Remember to forget
Remember to forget about me
Remember to forget about us
Remember to forget my name
Remember to forget yesterday
After all these years
The finale is finally near
I'll smash this here guitar
and burn the pieces, too
I'll drown every note of every song that I wrote
If it would buy more time with you
I’ll take back every word
And every riff you heard
Unhook the lines and turn off my fans
If it would grant me one more chance
If you don’t like the trade
Ask yourself who’s to blame
The deal that you made
Somebody had to pay
If you feel ripped off
Like you didn't get your lot
Who do you think’s at fault?
Whose name was on it all?
Remember to forget all the words
Remember to forget the hurt
Remember to forget how it goes
Remember to forget the shows
After all these years
The finale is finally here

Shotgun, handcuffs
Pepper spray, coffee cups
Bulletproof, K-9, “Protect and Serve”
Do or die
Sirens, flashing lights
Tickets, Miranda rights
White and red and black and blue
Rounding up all the youth
Police cars…
Country roads, city streets
Who’s in the back seat?
Cruising ‘round, where do they go?
No one ever really knows
Megaphone, spotlight
Freeway chase, the news tonight
Chasing people like you
Catching and arresting, too
Police cars…
Custom Ford, Grand Marquis
GTO and Chevy
Turbocharged nitro
Dispatch on the radio
9-1-1 they’re driving fast
Johnny Law is here at last
Here they come to save the day
And now they’re taking us away
Police cars…

Who’s the one who fixed the bike?
Who passed the mic?
Who's the one who takes the cake?
Who's on the make?
Who drives the car? Opens jars?
Who took you home? Left you alone?
Girlfriend does everything that you want, that you please
Girlfriend does anything, she just won’t do it with me
Girlfriend does, girlfriend does
Girlfriend does anything, she just won’t do it with me
...and that’s alright
Who's on TV?
Who is it that you need?
Who bought you drinks?
Who thinks you stink?
Who took you home?
Who left you alone?
Who is that in your bed?
Who is that in your head?
Girlfriend does everything that you want, if you please
Girlfriend does anything, she just don’t do it with me
Girlfriend does, girlfriend does
Girlfriend does anything, she just won’t do it with me
It’s such a shame, but I can’t complain
Wouldn’t change a thing at all
She’s not there and she’s still there
And I want to change everything
And when I close my eyes all I see is girlfriend
And when I open them all I see is girlfriend
Everything, everything, everything is girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend…
Girlfriend does everything that you want, if you please
Girlfriend does anything, she just don’t do it with me
Girlfriend does, girlfriend does
Girlfriend does anything, she just won’t do it with me

Sid Luscious and The Pants San Francisco, California
The greatest new wave band that never was!
Childhood prodigies, Sid Luscious and The Pants were
abandoned by the industry in the early 80s, on the verge of success. Other bands stole their sound and rode it to the top of the charts, while Sid and The Pants went their separate ways and grew up.
Decades later, the band has reformed. Older, wiser, and more new wave than ever.
