Baby Space 04:39
Shining skin Crystal eyes Strong and thin Warm sighs Got no heart But I don’t mind Got no soul That’s just fine You’re the one that I’ve been dreaming of Can’t you be my perfect love? No other girl could ever take your place My, my, space baby, my baby space When I turn you on I lose track of time You do whatever I want You’re truly mine You’re always there, waiting for me And when you sleep, do you dream of me? You’re the one that I’ve been dreaming of Can’t you be my perfect love? No other girl could ever take your place My, my, space baby, my baby space (bass solo over verse) You’re the one that I’ve been dreaming of Can’t you be my perfect love? No other girl could ever take your place My, my, space baby, my baby space You’re the one that I’ve been dreaming of Can’t you be my perfect love? No other girl could ever take your place My, my, space baby, my baby space Do you dream of me? My space baby, my baby space

Glossy pages, empty homes Pretty faces, fancy clothes Diet sodas, financed loans Yeah, I want that… Eternal youth and brand-new cars Pinstriped suits and candy bars It’s in my grasp but it seems so far Ooh, I really need that… Give me the lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle Lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle Luscious wraiths in bathing suits Young, thin, sexy…with fake boobs Printed page beauty is truth What’s wrong with that? Happy families in outdoor scenes Perfume strips, all so clean Everything in my dreams Yeah, I want that… Give me the lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle (Another issue!) Lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle (See what’s new!) Lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle (A brand-new issue!) Lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle (See what’s new!) What’s on the page is all the rage Airbrush my teeth and hair All the world’s a paper stage…I can’t believe my eyes… Give me the lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle (Another issue!) Lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle (See what’s new!) Lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle (A brand-new issue!) Lie, lie, lie…lifestyle magazine lifestyle (See what’s new!)

I read today’s papers and the fix is in I heard the newscaster say that the fix is in And the president’s an actor selling lies (What did you expect?) No one will open their eyes (What did you expect?) Could it be...I’m just paranoid Don’t you see? The fix is in My lover whispers in her sleep that the fix is in In the flickering green of my video screen, the fix is in All my friends are acting strange (What did you expect?) They all tell me I’m the one who’s changed (What did you expect?) Could it be...There’s something in the air Don’t you see...No one seems to care Look around...You’re in a prison There’s no doubt… The fix is in Mom and Dad won’t admit it, but the fix is in All the people in the city know that the fix is in The sponsors are all selling you (What did you expect?) Nobody’s telling the truth (What did you expect?) Could it be...I’m losing my mind? Don’t you see...It’s not all fine Look around...Why won’t you listen? There’s no doubt… The fix is in Cops, robbers, holy fathers…the fix is in Students and teachers, all of them cheaters…the fix is in In the mirror, becoming clearer…the fix is in Down in my soul, tell you what I know…the fix is in

People Talk 03:36
Now everyone’s talking But we’re not going to listen They’re trying to tell us what’s right and wrong But they don’t know what they’re missing Now it’s time for the good times Forget about everything else You and me, we’re in love Leave them on the shelf, because People talk Let them, let them, let them talk People talk Let them, let them talk Because we don’t care Now somebody’s talking about how we wear our hair And the way we live and love And the clothes we wear But we don’t care about what they say It doesn’t matter anyway Don’t let it get in your way Who cares about what they say? Because People talk Let them, let them, let them talk People talk Let them, let them talk Everybody’s talking, talking, talking…talking about us! You’re 16 and the summer’s never going to end And then you’re 18 and you’re never going to end up working for The Man And you’re riding down the freeway with the top down listening to this song Yeah, you’re young…and forever? It just seems so long People talk Let them, let them, let them talk People talk Let them, let them talk

When I met you in the summer, it was a beautiful day Holding hands and laughing, we both were carried away You smelled so good and felt so soft, the sun shining in your eyes I whispered “I love you” as we stood side by side It was a classic story, the best we could do A Hollywood production starring me and you The classic story…we played our parts Framed and lit on the screen, on Sunset Boulevard When I lost you, it was winter. I stood in the freezing rain. Emptied out and crying as you drove away A piercing sound as the light died in my eyes I called out “I need you” as you left me behind It was a tragic story, it was all I could do A Hollywood production starring me and you It was a tragic story…we played our parts Framed and glued to the screen on Sunset Boulevard And I found you in the autumn at a party in L.A. High in the hills, passing out, looking a little dazed Staggering in the bathroom with stars in your eyes You told me you still wanted me as I slowly backed away It’s the same old hackneyed story…it was all I could do A Hollywood production starring me and you The same old classic story, we play our parts Framed and pinned to the screen on Sunset Boulevard It’s the same old hackneyed story…it was all I could do A Hollywood production starring me and you The same old classic story, we play our parts Framed and pinned to the screen on Sunset Boulevard It was a classic story, the best we could do A Hollywood production starring me and you The classic story…we played our parts Framed and lit on the screen, on Sunset Boulevard It was a tragic story, it was all I could do A Hollywood production starring me and you It was a tragic story…we played our parts Framed and glued to the screen on Sunset Boulevard

I’m living on capsules in Tokyo I’m working on computers in the Twilight Zone I’m driving in my tomorrow car I’m wondering just where you are It’s tomorrow, baby…Who could ask for more? It’s tomorrow, baby, it’s 1984 It’s tomorrow, baby…Gotta get some more! It’s tomorrow, baby…Come on! It’s 1984 I’m eating my future food in tomorrow’s café I’m flying on the perfect plane for my future getaway I’m lying in my space-age bed, dreaming my tomorrow dreams Still clinging to the same old hope that tomorrow, you’ll come back to me It’s tomorrow…Who knows what’s in store? It’s tomorrow…It’s 1984 It’s tomorrow …You know what’s in store… It’s tomorrow, baby, come on it’s 1984 And everything that I see is filtered through the screens I’m caught in the master plan, but I’m doing what I can…doing what I can… I’m riding on the SST I’m talking on the videophone I’m beating on my Linn drum It’s tomorrow, baby…Who could ask for more? It’s tomorrow, baby, it’s 1984 It’s tomorrow, baby…Gotta get some more! It’s tomorrow, baby, come on it’s 1984 It’s tomorrow…Who knows what’s in store? It’s tomorrow…It’s 1984 It’s tomorrow…You know what’s in store… It’s tomorrow, baby…Come on, it’s 1984

They tell me they keep it chained to their side In a shiny black case that’s never out of sight The end of the world in the quarterback’s hands That doesn’t bother me at all…it’s the waiting I can’t stand… Push the button Push the button Push the button Push it now… My television and my phone, my life is so controlled Air conditioning, microwave, laser disc and stereo Technology connects and divides me and you The world is such a mess…all I wanna do is Push the button (Push the button) Push the button (Push the button) Push the button (Push the button) Push it now… Once I saw a TV show about a man with a box And if you pushed the button, you’d get a million bucks The only thing it did was kill someone you didn’t know We are all strangers living in the buttons shadow… Push the button (Push the button) Push the button (Push the button) Push the button (Push the button) Push it now…

Last Song 05:28
Here we are Together, at last I never thought this moment would come And now, it’s passing so fast Take my hands Tonight beneath the stars We will dance and spin and twirl and dance We will heed the music’s call… Last Song…come on…we’re running out of time Last Song…so long…we may say “goodnight” But never say “goodbye” Halfway through With your head pressed to my heart So much I want to say to you But I don’t know how to start I look deep in your eyes Are you as scared as me? Should I lean down and kiss you? Would that ruin everything? Last Song…it’s on…we’ve got to treasure this time Last Song…plays on…we may say “goodnight” But never say last song…it’s on…we’ve got to treasure this time Last Song…plays on…we may say “goodnight” But never say “goodbye” Here we are Tonight beneath the stars So much I want to say to you But you already know Last Song…hold on…there’s so little time Last Song…it’s done…we may say “goodnight” But never say last song…hold on…there’s so little time Last Song…it’s done…we may say “goodnight” But never say “goodbye”

about

Our debut album. Recorded from 1983-1984 (when we were teenagers), this album sat on a shelf, unreleased, for 20 years.

It finally saw the light of day in 2004, after the rights had reverted to us. Very much of its time, we are still proud of these songs today.

Maximum New Wave. Great pop rock hit songs with guitars, drums, and synthesizer, played by real people. The greatest band of the 80s that never was returns 20 years later to reclaim what other bands stole.

about

Sid Luscious and The Pants San Francisco, California

The greatest new wave band that never was!

Childhood prodigies, Sid Luscious and The Pants were abandoned by the industry in the early 80s, on the verge of success. Other bands stole their sound and rode it to the top of the charts, while Sid and The Pants went their separate ways and grew up.

Decades later, the band has reformed. Older, wiser, and more new wave than ever.
